Report

— About IOD

Internship On Demand is a platform designed to bring students and companies together. With opportunities for students to receive real workplace experience through internships.

— Opportunity Areas

Internship on demand is on a mission to expand their site to create Hiring Managers accessibility to locate candidates. Allowing them the ability to follow along with candidates journey to developing opportunities into their future career.

  • The ability to easily and efficiently browse IOD’s candidate pool

  • The ability to comment on candidates’ profiles

  • The ability to organize potential candidates

  • The ability to give candidates private, company-specific work without competitors seeing it - (This is what they currently exists and want to extend this to hiring managers)

— Understanding the Problem

Journey Mapping

Journey Mapping the Hiring Managers process showed the users attempt to accomplishing the overall goal.

The graph shows the before and after affect of what the user goes through in their attempt to achieve their goals.

Opportunity points were

  • A filtering option

  • A platform for users to candidate in different progression points

  • The ability to comment on the candidates within IOD and the Hiring Manager

— What was found

After analyzing findings, low fidelity wireframes were created in order to show developers on what is feasible within scoping constraints. Using the scopes of each wireframe gave a better understanding on what would be attainable.

Secondary to interviewing with the Developer, surveys with Hiring Managers were conducted to seek out evaluations within the wireframes.

These surveys helped guide and understand what functions and features would improve the users ability and what was necessary within the site to achieve their goal.

Method used to analyze these finding was Kano Analysis. Chart below shows the features surveyed to the Hiring manager. This also shows the categories that were found within the survey, how long scoping would be within the features and the ranking within each of the categories.

Kano analysis showed what Hiring Managers were more interested in seeing and what was a ‘must-be’ feature. Must-be features would be a necessary function that would need to be added to the site. So view/filter Candidates was on the list of recommended features.

Within choosing the features the constraints were still in mind. As well as the organizations goals for the new site. The following features that I also chose included Internal team comment sidebar, Candidate Organization and Candidate Discovery.

The features that were chosen emphasizes the hiring managers main tools in navigating into candidates. These were foundational to the building of the new site and was within the constraints.

Below are the wireframes that depicts the features that I recommended with what was attainable within the 40 hour constraint.

— Findings

— Prototypes

Once features were chosen wireframes were created to depict the data that was found.

Internal Team Comment Sidebar

Estimate Build time - 4hrs

This feature would include the ability for IOD and the hiring manager to communicate by creating notes about the candidates during their progression in IOD

This tool allows for any of the users to add their name and the title of what the comment is about.

Color coordinating any notes/comments allow identifying what the info is or who it is from help with organizing and detecting info

There is then scrolling ability to continue with notes

Candidate Organization

Estimate Build time - 13hrs

Organizing potential candidates is important for the hiring manager as they expressed how time consuming it is to share information between different people.

Each of the candidates would be organized by the stage that they are in

User is then able to add more categories that they want displayed

Small dots are then used to move around candidates when they are ready for the next phase

Candidate Comparison Tool

Estimate Build time - 7hrs +4 (includes a percentage calculation)

This feature combines a way to filter out candidates as well as the ability to easily organize potential candidates to see them side by side.

A graph for skills and values will help visually compare both candidates chosen

View/Filter Candidates

Estimate Build time - 2hrs

This feature includes the ability to browse through candidates. Allowing Hiring Managers the ability to look into specific skills, values and experience

Additional info for Scoping

For additional 5 filters this page would take 3 hours total. This would go over budget currently but would be necessary in order to allow the user to adjust variables that are important for their company

Candidate Discovery

Estimate Build time - 10hrs

This feature coincides with the hiring managers ability to filter out candidates, another method of browsing and organizing candidates available within IOD

The discovery page feature would be within hiring managers platform to allow them the opportunity to look into what IOD is recommending for them as a candidate to best match them.

Two options - One that opens the page to ‘Recommended’ and the other that opens to ‘All’ candidates

— Next Steps/Takeaway

Dashboard and Login

In comparison to the other features this feature did not match what is currently a priority.

Company Account Dashboard and Login scoping is 20hrs not including widgets but would be a great addition to the Hiring Managers.

This would be a way that they can find specific pages and other information that is needed for quick access.
